Kala Bhatt/ Black Soyabean is a Homegrown pulse crop, widely cultivated in rainfed areas of Uttarakhand Himalayas and is a rich source of proteins and iron. One of the widely cultivated pulse crop of Uttarakhand, commonly consumed in the form of dal, stuffed chapattis and is also used as an ingredient in the very famous pahadi dish called Chainsoo. Besides that, Kala Bhatt is also used in a unique mixture formed by frying it with other pahadi products like Chaulai, Bhang beej, Wheat, Jaggery and Bhangjeera, which is taken in the form of a dry snack.
